Scrub A Dub

How gentle is your scrub? Scrubs are meant to slough off dead skin cells and rejuvenate the complexion. Traditional physical scrubs, made with sugar, salt, coffee and sand, are too abrasive for delicate facial skin. Micro tears from harsh abrasives accumulate with continued use and leave the skin dull and damaged. Micro exfoliating scrubs are all the rage. More than a trend, exfoliators made with abrasives that have smaller particle sizes are gentler on the skin. A micron is the unit of measurement for particle sizes. A grain of table salt measures about 120 microns. Sand ranges from very fine particles that measure 62 microns to coarse particles measuring 500 microns. Clay particles range from 2 microns and less, with some only visible with special microscopes. Fine clay scrubs are soothing and dissolve quickly before overworking the skin. It's the ideal choice to remove dead skin gently over time. If a scrub feels scratchy, it will scratch you. Be kind to your skin. A scrub is a treatment, and treatments heal.
