Formulated for the Melanated

Clean, gentle skincare crafted with simple ingredients (psssst... if you tan, you’re melanated!)

Untitled was born from a desperate need for clean, gentle skincare. Suffering from breakout, after breakout from commercial beauty products, we gravitated towards the beauty secrets of our African ancestors.

#13 was born from trial, error, and some luck. The original formula inspired a partnership, and one founder to craft until her entire living space was filled with soaps. Racks, on racks, on racks. Charcoal, stone ground sulfur. Hibiscus, freshly grated ginger, dried lime leaves. Sea salt, mango butter, neem oil.  One experiment led to another and another, and eventually to the first batch of soap bricks.

What at first was a soft tug, is now a strong gravitational force rooting us to our neglected heritage. We honor the knowledge passed down to our generation, and "weave a new mat from the old" [Liberian proverb].

Our Family

We are daughters born of West African immigrants. Their inherent hustle came from their own mothers, both Queens of Ingenuity. On Liberian soil, Ma Monia crafted African black soap and liquor from sugarcane traditionally called "moonshine.” Ma Catherine sieved, collected, and processed waste-rubber only to sell it back to her employer, Firestone Rubber.
